RrSG is the abbreviation for Registrars Stakeholder Group. It is one of the many Stakeholder Groups within the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) community. RrSG is the representative body of the registrars. [1] It was first recognized by the ICANN Board at its meeting on 27 May 1999. The RrSG participates in the policy making process of ICANN and also works as one of the most efficient body in raising the voice of the registrars within the ICANN community.[2]

The RrSG is a part of the Generic Names Support Organization (GNSO). The GNSO is the main policy making body within the ICANN. There are three representatives that are elected to the GNSO Council from the RrSG. These representatives carry out the functions of representing the views of the registrars and voting on with the policy matters in addition with one member to work for the Nominating Committee.[2]

Mission of RrSG[edit | edit source]

The main purpose of the RrSG is to represent the views of the ICANN accredited registrars within the ICANN supporting organizations and other respective ICANN bodies in all the issues and matters of its responsibility as well as under the pursuit of the ICANN Bylaws.

For instance, the Executive Committee is assigned with more responsibilities such as developing meeting agendas, providing notices of meetings, manage as well as administer elections, support the GNSO Council and ICANN Board, Facilitate policy coordination meetings and many others. [3]

The term of the member of the Excom lasts for one year starting from June 1st and ending on May 31st.[5]
