.quebec is a new GeoTLD and Community Priority Application proposed to ICANN's New gTLD Program by PointQuébec, a non-profit organization. The organizations aims to improve the businesses, culture, tourism and the online identity of the Quebec and Quebecers through the .quebec TLD.[1] The application for the .quebec string is supported by the Quebec National Assembly, [2] and other cultural, technical, and economic instituions in the city. It has received "substantial financial support from the Québec government", and is a not-for profit organization. The organization will verify legitimate registations via statements of intent through a post-verification registration system.[3]

Contract Signed[edit | edit source]

On 19 December 2013 PointQuébec received a Registry Agreement signed by ICANN for .quebec after passing all the required processes needed to become a Registry Operator for the string.[4]
