GreenICANN was initiated because of a firm belief that the Internet needs to be sustainable and ICANN is a significant part of the Internet infrastructure. Unfortunately ICANN still contributes to climate change due to the energy consumed in its travel, servers and day to day operation of the DNS.

History

October 2022 ICANN75 Kuala Lumpur Meeting with senior ICANN staff and the cross community Green Team.

Javier and Raoul spoke at the open forum to the community to promote a Carbon Neutral organization.

March 2023 ICANN Cancun Meeting with Lise Fuhr of ETNO

June 2023 Planning and meetings at ICANN77, in Washington.

Aiming to have a session in Oct 2023 for ICANN78, in Hamburg.
