History

Founded in 1997 as a mail forwarding company, Mailclub has since become an advisor for companies wanting to secure their online identity.

Frédéric Guillemaut joined the company in 1998 and has worked on the processes used to develop the company in a variety of products ranging from hosting to domain names.

In 2007, Mailclub launched domaine.asia, one of the first .asia domains.

Mailclub is one of the few foreign registrars registering domain names for the Gambia.[2]

The company became SafeBrands in September 2014.

In 2021, SafeBrands was acquired by Centralnic Group (Now Team Internet). In 2024, SafeBrands becomes BrandShelter, and stops its hosting hosting activities.

Accreditations

Brandshelter (Ex-SafeBrands and Ex-Mailclub) was accredited by AFNIC in 1999 and by ICANN in 2006. The company is also accredited with a large number of international registries.

Since joining Team Internet, new accreditations are managed by Key-Systems.

Services

Brandshelter is a French registrar, specializing in corporate domain name registration. It is a member of the team Internet Group, and the French Branch of the Brand Division : a corporate services for high end customers.

In the 2010's, SafeBrands also operated SafeBrands.info,[3] a domain industry webzine. The company also organised domain events such as Les Rencontres Internationales des Noms de Domaine,[4] which allows people from the IP community to meet domaineers and talk about the industry.

They have always provided their services in a manner that follows ethical working laws and is green.[5] This is still the case as Team Internet is now aiming for carbon neutral domain names.
