Cary Karp
Cary Karp serves as Director of Internet Strategy and Technology at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, International Council of Museums (ICOM) and President of the Museum Domain Management Association (MuseDoma), the sponsoring organization and administrator of the operations of the .museum top level domain name (TLD). He is also an Associate Professor of Organology at Uppsala University in Sweden.[1][2]

Career Background
Dr. Carp has been dedicated to the museum sector since 1960s. He became the curator of musical instrument collections at the Music Museum in Stockholm in 1973 and later became the Deputy Director of the museum for 10 years. In 1990, he became Director of the Department of Information Technology of the Swedish Museum of Natural History and currently holds the position of Director of Internet Strategy and Technology of the museum. Carp has been instrumental in increasing the visibility of the museum community worldwide through the internet. As President of MuseDoma, he currently manages the Museum Network Information Center (MUSENIC) Project in Europe. For more than 30 years, Carp has been representing the museum sector in International committees and organizations dedicated to conservation, musical instruments, and documentation. He has received numerous Board and Advisory Committee appointments to serve Swedish national museums, as well as European Union initiatives to different international consortiums, such as the ICANN, in order to develop and enhance the participation of the museum community through the use of internet.[3]
ICANN Involvement
Dr. Carp is an active member of ICANN's GNSO, particularly on issues and projects related to IDN.He is a member of the Working Group responsible for developing the implementation guidelines for IDNs.[4]
Education
Carp received his Doctorate Degree (Phd) in Musicology from Uppsala University in Sweden.
