Jonny started out with the access network development wing of Telecom New Zealand in 1998 involved in the design and deployment of their ADSL network, and early VoIP trials. He spent several years with Telecom involved in migration from 'legacy' services to MPLS based NGN delivery.APRICOT
After Telecom New Zealand, Jonny held senior roles with CityLink and then FX Networks working primarily on fiber optic deployments. Jonny has been actively involved in the New Zealand Internet community for many years, particularly as an organiser and supporter of the New Zealand Network Operators' Group (NZNOG). Since 2006, Jonny has been a Councillor of InternetNZ, the body which manages the .nz namespace and operates the .nz registry through it's subsidiaries.[2]
Currently Jonny works as an Internet Analyst for Packet Clearing House (PCH), a non-profit based in San Francisco, California. Responsibilities include providing training workshops on operational technologies, particularly in the Asia and Pacific region, as well as operations of the PCH Anycast ccTLD DNS network and INOC-DBA inter-NOC VoIP hotline system.
Jonny has been a regular attendee and contributor at ICANN, APNIC meetings and regional conferences such as NZNOG, PacINET, and APRICOT for several years.[3]
Jonny Martin has a BTech(Hons)in Information Engineering from Massey University.
