Pinkard Alan "Pinky" Brand has been involved in the domain name industry since 1996. He currently serves as Director, Domain Sales for dotMobi (mTLD Top Level Domain Ltd).

He co-founded two multinational domain name registration and portfolio management companies (existing today)that count the world's most recognized trademark holders as clients, generating total revenues in the tens of millions of dollars. The first was in 1996, Internet Domain Names, Inc. d/b/a idNames. That company was among the first in the world to develop commercial worldwide domain name registry search software and a corresponding database of registration requirements for over 200 country-code top-level domains, as well as introducing the concept of online intellectual property protection and management of domain name portfolios. He led the sale and integration of idNames to Network Solutions (NSI) in 1998. It was the first company acquired by NSI after they went public.

Pinky then went to work for NSI as Director of its idNames country-code domain name registration and corporate domain records management business unit from 1998 to 2000. He oversaw its expansion into Asia-Pacific and Europe, including offices and representation in Hong Kong, Greater China, Japan, Korea, United Kingdom and continental Europe.

After VeriSign acquired NSI in 2000, Pinky served as Director of Market Development for the Digital Brand Management Services (DBMS) business unit at VeriSign until 2002 when the entrepreneural bug bit him again.

In mid-2002 he co-founded Arcemus LLC, a boutique corporate domain name management registrar that specialized in ccTLDs. Iron Mountain (NYSE: IRM) acquired his company in 2004. He served as Vice President of Marketing for their Domain Name Management Services for two years before being hired by dotMobi to develop new markets, premium name and general domain name sales.

Pinky has been an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) since 1997 and has served on several of its committees. He is CLE-certified by the Virginia State Bar, and speaks regularly to IP counsel and domain name professionals around the world about domain names, mobile Internet ecosystem opportunities and intellectual property protection.

Pinky is a proud founding member and past President of the (80+ member) Houston, Texas chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs’ Organization (now known as Entrepreneurs' Organization) in 1997-1998, which is allied with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.[1]
