Background edit

Frans first became involved in the Internet in January, 1995, through one of the first Belgian ISP's, HookOn. He structured the organization and took care of the daily management.

The Federation of Belgian ISP's ISPA asked him to join the board in 1999. In 2000, he was elected as Vice-President, a position he held until the moment he left XS4ALL in July.

By the end of 2000, he started offering his services as independent strategic consultant at different major Belgian and international Internet and telecom investment companies. Beginning in 2001, he supported CBel with the launch of the housing and co-location project Rack66. In 2002, he was co-founder of the Belgian Internet Broadband Applications Platform BIBA, which began as an initiative of the Belgian Ministry of Telecommunications, with the main goal to foster broadband development in Belgium. In September, 2003, he was elected secretary.

In 2003, he co-founded EUSIP bvba, which continued the housing & hosting project Rack66 as an independent company. EUSIP bvba is an official Registrar of RIPE, the Belgian ccTLD .be, the European TLD .eu, and the Dutch ccTLD .nl.

Frans then co-founded NWX Projex LTD that offers website engineering and Internet based application development.

September, 2006, Mr. Gerbosch was asked to become a non-executive director of WiMax Europe, which is located in Ireland.

December, 2006, Frans joined the Registrar-Forum of the Belgian ccTLD .be.

March, 2007, he was elected as a member of the Advisory Board of PIR, the Public Interest Registry, and reserve member of the .eu Council of Conduct.

May, 2007, Frans co-founded Oxopia NV.

In July, he decided to join the board of Vadro NV, a Belgian videoproduction company.

November, 2007, he was asked to join the Belgian chapter of the OpenDocSociety.

ISOC edit

In February, 2005, he joined the ISOC -Belgian Chapter and became the vice-chair of the board.[2] ISOC Belgium has been an ALS and an official EURALO member since 2007. As a result of this engagement and experience he was asked to be a member of the jury of the Belgian selection of the World Summit Award (WSA) in 2005, and also in 2007.
