Jaewon Son is a Doctoral Researcher at the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). She is passionate about the intersection of society, technology, and the environment. Her publications cover topics such as satellite remote sensing for water disaster management, digitalizing trees in Karlsruhe, technology assessment on nature-based solutions, energy transitions, and the Internet of Things.

Currently, she serves on the NetMission Advisory Board as an advisor, is the Youth4IG Capacity Building Lead, and is a member of several organizations including the ISOC Rural Development Community, Youth Standing Group, Interplanetary Chapter, and ICANN's Asia Pacific Regional At-Large Organisation (APRALO), At-Large Consolidated Policy Working Group (CPWG), and Noncommercial Stakeholder Group (NCSG). Additionally, she is an advisor at Greentech Alliance and a member of Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Cities (AISC).

With a keen interest in the Multistakeholder Model, Jaewon has served as a committee member of the Korea Internet Governance Forum (KrIGF) where she initiated the first youth session and youth supporters in Korea during the 8th KrIGF. She also co-founded the first Korean youth stakeholder group, Voice of Youth at Internet Governance (VOY@IG).

Jaewon was recognized as an outstanding performer at the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) in 2018 and later served as a mentor and keynote speaker at APIGA 2019. She attended ICANN 63 in Barcelona as a civilian expert appointed by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), ICANN 64 in Kobe as a NextGen, ICANN 66 in Montreal as a NextGen Ambassador, and ICANN 67 as a fellow. As a speaker and fellow, she participated in the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) 2019 in Vladivostok, Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) 48 in Chiang Mai, IGF 2019 in Berlin, APrIGF 2020, and the Asia Pacific School on Internet Governance (APSIG) 2020, among many other IG event.
