Graham (Gray) Chynoweth is the VP of Business Operations & General Counsel at Dynamic Network Services Inc. (Dyn Inc.). Senegalese Facts...
  • The traditional Arabic greeting, assalaamaalekum, is used in Senegal, to which one replies maalekum salaam. Ca va is an alternative, informal greeting. Thank you is jerejef (think Jerry & Jeff!), your welcome is noku boku. Yes is waaw (pronounced "wow") and no is deedeet (pronounced "day day").
  • The Cap-Vert Peninsula, where Dakar is located, was settled no later than the 15th century.
  • Peanuts are a major export for Senegal. It is the world's 8th greatest cultivator of peanut products.
  • Abdoulaye Wade, the President of Senegal, was first elected in 2000. He had been running for President as opposition leader since 1978, running in four elections before he was finally elected.
  • American hip hop artist Akon was raised for part of his life in Senegal, and has part ownership in a local club.
