The Government of Victoria has a democratic parliamentary form of government. The State of Victoria is one of the six states of the Australian Commonwealth and the head of the state governmenr is the Premier who is elected and supported by the majority members of the Legislative Assembly. The Ministers of the Cabinet help the Premier in governing the State. Ted Baillieu is the current Premier of the Government of Victoria. [1]
The governor of Victoria is appointed by Queen based on the recommendation of the Premier of the State. The governor serves as the representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and his primary responsibility is to ensure the democracy of the state. The governor's power and responsibility include constitutional, ceremonial and community functions as defined by the laws established by the Parliament, which is consist of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly. Alex Chernov is the current Governor of the State. [2]
