.np
.np is the ccTLD for Nepal. It is managed by Mercantile Communication Pvt. Ltd.[1]
Rules and Restrictions[edit | edit source]
The .np domains are only available to Nepalese residents and businesses with a physical address in the country. Domain registrations under .np ccTLD are free of cost and registered on a first-come-first-serve basis, but terms and conditions apply.[2]
The registrations are made in third level beneath various second level generic domains. There is no registration directly under .np.[3]
As of October 2024, the official registry website is not loading.
Registration Guide[edit | edit source]
To register a .np domain name, one must visit the Official Registration Website and create an account. Then, the interested party must check if the domain name they desire is available by using the website's search bar.
The next step is to prepare the required documents:
- individuals will need a scanned copy of their citizenship, passport, or any government-issued ID that matches the domain name (e.g., yourname.np);
- organizations will need a copy of their organization's registration certificate and a request letter on official letterhead. These documents shall be uploaded along the registration form in PDF or image format.
After submitting the form, the application will be reviewed. The approval process typically takes a few days, during which documents and eligibility are verified.
Once approved, the registrant will receive an email confirmation. The domain should be activated shortly after approval.[2]
