Donuts filed for the TLD under the company name Spring Way, LLC. Donuts applied for 307 new gTLDs, each under different company names. Daniel Schindler, Donuts EVP for Marketing and Sales is the main contact person in its application. [2]

On December 5, 2013 Donuts received a Registry Agreement signed by ICANN for .cruises after passing all the required processes needed to become a Registry Operator for the string.[3]
