Debra Hughes is the Senior Counsel for American Red Cross, a non-profit organization and the world's largest humanitarian organization providing services to people without discrimination no matter what nationality, race, religion, class, or political affiliation. She also a Member of the Board of Directors of the International Trademark Association.[1]

ICANN Involvement

Hughes is an active participant in ICANN. She served as Councilor of the GNSO's Non-Commercial Stakeholder Group (NCSG) from 2009-2011,[2] where she represented the interests of non-profit organizations in the ICANN community. She has introduced ICANN's multi-stakeholder model and policy development to different non-profit groups, and was one of the people who initiated the establishment of the Non-Profit Operational Concerns Constituency as a new ICANN constituency under the GNSO. The NPOC was approved by ICANN on June 24, 2011.[3][4]

Career History

From 2001 until 2005, Debra practiced law as an Associate at the K&L Gates, and from 2005 until 2008, she worked as General Council for Wal-Mart Stores.[5]
