Gaurav Vedi is an accomplished Technology Leader with over 20+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Cloud Managed Services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), Security (Enterprise, Networks and CyberSecurity), Architecture & Design, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Solutions Delivery, Operations & Support, Strategy, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Products & Program Management, Product-Platform Architecture, Quality Assurance and Security Compliance (DoD, FedRAMP, NIST, FIPS, FISMA, PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST, GDPR, CMMC, etc) for several industries including DNS, Internet Registry Services, Telecom, Telematics, Satellite Communications, Patents & Trademarks and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) for Federal/Public Sector and global commercial clients and is a versatile leader managing global resources.
He worked as Vice President of Cloud & Cybersecurity with MicroStrategy supporting both Public Sector and worldwide Commercial Clients in delivering Cloud Managed Services (Multi, Hybrod, Public & Private) leveraging AWS, GCP, Azure cloud providers for Business Intelligence & Data Analytics offering for MicroStartegy's flagship SaaS products and spearheaded FedRAMP and Technology modernization efforts such as Containers/Kubernetes and LLM integration with BI products for Public Sector agencies such as HHS, DoD, DHS, DoC, DoS, DoE, VA etc and several other worldwide commercial clients. He also worked as Chief Delivery Officer & Chief Operations Officer for stackArmor and was responsible for the end-to-end technical delivery of cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and security services (FISMA, FedRAMP, GDPR, PCI, HIPAA, DoD RMF, CMMC etc) for public-sector, federal and commercial clients. He also worked as Vice President of Products/Engineering for a startup, IPGen, spearheading engineering teams to design and build Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning products & solutions for enterprise and public sector customers. Prior, he worked as the Head of Registry Operations for Dominion Domains Registries managing Technical Products/Program Management, Strategy, Product Pricing & Business Operations for TLDs - .Homes, .Autos, .Boats, .Yachts and .Motorcycles. He also performed ICANN compliance w.r.t to RA, RRA and Registration Policies for corresponding TLDs and was also involved in Channel development and Strategic Alliances too. He is an active member of several ICANN Internet Policy governance initiatives such as GDPR, RDAP, RZ-LGR, etc. He is currently a board member of the Customer Standing Committee with ICANN, serving his second term.
Career History
Gaurav Vedi has almost 10 years of experience in the domain name industry. Prior to joining Dominion, he worked as Technical Engineering Manager/Technical Lead with Verisign for 8 years and managed multiple teams and programs implementing new gTLDs, IDNs, DNS, DNSSEC and Rights Protection Mechanisms (TMCH, sunrise, claims) etc. He also worked with Hughes Network Systems on Satellite Communications and Telematics divisions and also with Nokia on Wireless, 3G, and Telecom operations and development. He is also a certified PMP from PMI.org. He also provided technical training to team members, developed knowledge-based technical support documentation, and managed DNS services. He was the team expert on Internationalized Domain Names and Shared Registration Systems. He is an active member of Registry stakeholder Group (RySG) of GNSO and participates in providing feedback on several policy drafts from PDP WG. He is also the Chief Technical Liaison and a Member Board of Directors for Domain Name Association (theDNA.org). He is also a serving member on Customer Standing Committee (CSC) with ICANN to monitor Public Technical Identifier’s (PTI) performance of the IANA naming function against the service level expectations in the IANA Naming Function Contract.
ICANN and Internet Governance Participation
Gaurav is an active member of the gTLD Registries Stakeholder Group (RySG) of the GNSO and participates as a volunteer in providing feedback on several policy drafts from PDP WG. He attended ICANN 61 in Puerto Rico, ICANN 62 in Panama, ICANN 63 in Barcelona, ICANN 64 in Kobe (Japan), ICANN 66 in Montreal, GDD Summit in Thailand and virtual ICANN meetings.
Education
Gaurav Vedi holds two Masters degrees. He completed an MBA degree from the University of Maryland, College Park - Robert Smith business school in USA and a Masters of Computer Applications degree from Jamia University, India. He also holds a Bachelor's in Electronics from Delhi University, India. He is also a certified and skilled Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI.org, a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and holds AWS Cloud and Comptia Security+ Certifications as well.
