Marc Van Wesemael is the CEO of EURid, the TLD operator for .eu. Besides mainly working in internet industry, he has worked in software and telecom industries as a consultant and in marketing and general sales as a manager. He has served as General Manager at DNS Belgium for more than 10 years and left it in September 2009.[1] Marc has worked with OpenRegistry.com for over 15 years.[2] He is optimistic about .eu and looks forward to its great success with IDNs. However Wesemael is of the view that it might be a little tricky to introduce IDNs as there would be a lot of chances for misconception in alphabets of similar laguages.[3]
EURid is a member of ccNSO.[4]
Education
Mr. Wesemael attended Ghent University for his Engineering in Electronics. Afterwards he did his MBA from Lessius Management School.[5]
Events
Marc participates in ICANN meetings on the behalf of EURid.[6] He attended ICANN ISOC joint ccTLD tutorial Bulgaria on October 2006.[7]
