Prior to joining NLnet Labs, Olaf worked with [[RIPE NCC]]. From April 1997 until April 1998, Scientific Programmer working with a test-traffic project. From April 1998 until December 2000 he served as Operations Manager for the department that operated the RIPE [[DNS]] infrastructure, including the K root-server, and in 2000 he became a Systems Architect and Project Manager responsible for DNSSEC deployment. Earlier in his career, Kolkman worked as a Unix System Administrator at NetHold from February 1996 until April 1997, and as a Scientific Administrative Assistant at ASTRON from April 1992 until July 1993.<ref>[http://www.nlnetlabs.nl/~olaf/ Olaf's personal page]</ref>
