Alessandro Baruffi serves as Director of International Partnerships at it.com Domains, the Registry authority for the .it.com name space and a Registry Service Provider. In this role, he nurtures the growth of the network of partner registrars and resellers. A native of the Rhaetian Alps, he graduated from the UniversitĂ degli Studi di Milano (Economics, Finance, and Business Administration).
Prior to joining it.com Registry, his professional background spans from the Online business information (Thomson-Reuters, in Italy and the UK, and Dow Jones/News Corp, in the US) to Marketing Database Management (Saturn BV, in The Netherlands) to Domains Registrar (Tucows, in Europe and Latin America), to Website-builder and Hosting (SiteBuilderBuilder/Flazio, in Italy). Alessandro joined the Domains industry in 2011; since then he has been an active participant within the ICANN community; he regularly travels and speaks at domains related events.
He spearheaded the commercial introduction and adoption of new TLDs released under the first ICANN program across Europe (with a special focus on UK, Netherlands, Spain, and Italy) and in Latin America (with a special focus on Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia). Alessandro is an advocate of a free Internet and of freedom of speech, both on-line and off-line.
