Göran Marby is the former CEO and President of ICANN, he stepped down in December 2022 and was succeeded by Sally Costerton as Interim President and CEO.[1] Prior to his position with ICANN, Marby was the Director General at the Swedish Post & Telecom Agency in Stockholm, Sweden. On February 8, 2016 ICANN announced that Marby would become the next CEO, joining the organization in May 2016. [2] Marby replaced Fadi Chehadé in March, 2016. Akram Atallah served as the interim CEO between Chehadé's departure and Marby's onboarding.

On October 7, 2020, the ICANN Board approved a resolution to extend Marby's Executive Services Agreement by two years, with a new termination date of May 24, 2024.[3] The board cited Marby's leadership in projects like the IANA Functions Stewardship Transition and ICANN's policy work in response to the GDPR, as well as an interest in providing continuity of leadership for the board's newly-adopted five-year strategic plan as reasons to extend Marby's term in office.[3]
