The company was established in 2007 by Oliver Süme , Dirk Krischenowski,and Katrin Ohlmer and Johannes Lenz-Ohlmer Hawliczek, with the objective to provide an online space for the residents, businesses and tourist industry of the city of Hamburg.[1]

Further shareholders of HHTLD include the City of Hamburg. Dirk Krischenowski is managing director of the company.
