Hossain has been in the Internet industry since 2005. He is a formal fellow of South Asian Network Operator group ([[SANOG]]) apart from his ICANN 49 Fellowship. He participated in a volunteer role in ICANN on Virtual Integration working Group and the IGF 2013 meeting in Indonesia as an ISOC ambassador.  He also participated NETmundial - Global Multistakeholder Meeting on the Future of Internet Governance in Brazil 2014.<ref name="user" />
