Gonzalo Navarro is the CEO of the Asociación Latinoamericana de Internet (ALAI) and was a member of the ICANN Board of Directors from 2009 to 2015. He was selected by the Nominating Committee for a three-year term, which started on October 30, 2009, during the ICANN Annual Meeting in Seoul, South Korea, ending at the conclusion of the 2012 Annual Meeting in Toronto, Canada. Navarro is a citizen of Chile and served as the Chief of Staff for the National Institute Of Industrial Property of Chile.[1] He was the chairman of ICANN's Global Relationships Committee and a member of the Audit Committee, Public Participation Committee,[2], and the Board-GAC Joint Working Group.[3]
Navarro provides advice to the government of Chile regarding the implementation of public policies such as Free Trade Agreements. He was involved in drafting and negotiating the contents of the telecommunications of the United States-Chile Free Trade Agreement and the China-Chile Free Trade Agreement.
