.energy is a new GTLD that was proposed in ICANN's new gTLD expansion program. It was delegated to the Root Zone of the DNS on the 1st November, 2014, completing the successful application for the string.[1]
Successful Applicant
- Donuts (Binky Birch, LLC)- The company filed for 307 new gTLDs. Donuts created a company to submit its application for each domain name string, including Biky Birch LLC for .energy. It invested $56 million for applications fees alone. [2] This applicant submitted a Public Interest Commitment, which can be downloaded here.

- Famous Four Media (dot Energy Limited)- This is one of the 61 domain name strings applied for by the company. Famous Four Media is a registry company based in Gibraltar.[3]
Contract signed
On the 11th September 2014, Donuts received a Registry Agreement signed by ICANN for .energy after passing the Initial Evaluation.[4]
