More information:

.diet is a generic top level domain name (gTLD) that was proposed in ICANN's new gTLD expansion program. After a Private auction in May 2014, Uniregistry became the only applicant and now Registry Operator for the string. The application succeeded and was delegated to the Root Zone on 16 August 2014.[1]

Background[edit | edit source]

Current Applicant[edit | edit source]

  1. Uniregistry, Corp. - The company applied for 54 TLDs. Uniregistry was formed by Frank Schilling, who is known as a domain name investor.[2]

Previous Applicants[edit | edit source]

  1. Famous Four Media (dot Diet Limited)- The company is represented by Mr. Geir Rasmussen, a registry service provider based in Gibraltar that has filed for 61 domain name strings.[3]
  2. Donuts (Pioneer Hill, LLC)- One of the companies created to submit its application for the TLD. Donuts filed for 307 new gTLDs, each under different company names.[4] This applicant submitted a Public Interest Commitment, which can be downloaded here.

Private Auction[edit | edit source]

In a private auction conducted by Applicant Auction in May 2014, Uniregistry won the rights to .diet over the other two applicants for an undisclosed amount.[5]

Contract Signed[edit | edit source]

On 26 June 2014 Uniregistry received a Registry Agreement signed by ICANN for .diet after passing all the required processes needed to become a Registry Operator for the string.[6]

Delegation and Availability[edit | edit source]

.diet was delegated to the Root Zone of the DNS on 16 August 2014, completing the successful application for the string.[1]
