[[ICANN Reviews]] assess the [[Supporting Organizations]] (SOs), [[Nominating Committee]], [[Technical Liaison Group]], [[Advisory Committee]]s and the [[ICANN Board|Board of Directors]]. An independent examiner is charged with measuring the ICANN body's operational efficacy and [[ICANN Accountability|accountability]] to the broader ICANN community.

Last year saw more [[Brand TLD|Brand TLDs]] head for the exits as companies sent termination notices for a variety of strings. From [[.intel|industry]] [[.symantec|heavyweights]] to [[.newholland|heavy industrial]], [[.metlife|financial]] [[.esurance|services]] to [[.rightathome|consumables]], eighteen companies initiated termination of their custom TLDs in 2020. In many cases, only the mandatory NIC domain was active in the abandoned domain space.

On the inception of the .brand TLD program, a large number of companies applied for strings for trademark protection purposes. Companies continue to struggle to find a purpose for their brand TLDs, with [[.creditunion]] being a notable exception: the registry has over 500 registered domains serving credit unions, credit union service organizations, and businesses with a significant nexus to credit union activities.
