More information:

.google is a proposed new generic top level domain name (gTLD) with ICANN to be included in the internet domain name system (DNS. A spokesperson from Google confirmed the application of the search engine giant for the domain name string. According to the spokesperson, "We plan to apply for Google's trademarked TLDs, and we're currently exploring opportunities to apply for new ones as well. We want to help make this a smooth experience for web users—one that promotes innovation and competition on the Internet." [1]
