In June 5, 2012, Donuts announced that the company applied for 307 generic top level domain names (gTLD) in various characters sets with ICANN's New gTLD Program. The company secured $100 million capital from from multi-billion dollar private equity and venture funds to finance its gTLD business. Donuts executive said that the company is prepared to deploy capital and secure additional fund if it is necessary to ensure that it will be able to secure and operate every TLD applied for with the internet governing body.
