.rip is a proposed TLD in ICANN's New gTLD Program. After a Private auction in May 2014, Rightside/Demand Media (United TLD Holdco Ltd.) became the sole applicant for the string. It was delegated to the Root Zone of the DNS on the 15th October 2014, completing the successful application for the string.[1]

Private Auction[edit | edit source]
In a private auction conducted by Applicant Auction in May 2014, Rightside won the rights to .rip over the other applicants for an undisclosed amount.[3]
Contract signed[edit | edit source]
On the 10th July 2014,United TLD Holdco Ltd. received a Registry Agreement signed by ICANN for .rip after passing the Initial Evaluation.[4]
Delegation[edit | edit source]
.rip was delegated to the Root Zone of the DNS on the 15th October 2014, completing the successful application for the string.[5]
