    Harald Alvestrand is a Norwegian computer scientist, who is very active in the IETF, acting as its chair from 2001 until 2005, the chair of the Areas for Applications from 1995 until 1997 and Operations and Management in 1998, and most recently the IETF liaison to the ICANN Board of Directors since 2018. He has long been active in ICANN as well, serving on the ICANN Board from 2007 to 2010.
