The ICANN Board agreed to enter into negotiations with the proposed .mobi contract in 2004;[6] when they awarded the sTLD to mTLD it was for a 10 year contract.[7] At the time it was questioned whether or not an entire TLD for mobile devices was truly necessary.[8]
Company Name
The reason for naming the company dotMobi was to let the consumers know that the company is entirely dedicated to mobile phone services, offering web on mobile devices. The naming of a site with a “.mobi” address ensures the users they are accessing a site which offers services on phone regardless of the mobile handset or the network operator they are using.
