.google is a (Brand gTLD) being applied for by Google with ICANN to be included in the internet domain name system (DNS). Google's application for the proposed domain name string was confirmed by a spokesperson from the search engine giant. According to the spokesperson, "We plan to apply for Google's trademarked TLDs, and we're currently exploring opportunities to apply for new ones as well. We want to help make this a smooth experience for web users—one that promotes innovation and competition on the Internet." [1]
Based on the official list of applied-for-strings published by ICANN, Google applied for 101 new gTLDs through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Charleston Road Registry Inc. Sarah Falvey, Google's Senior Policy Analyst is the main contact person in the applications. [2]
