Alexander Schubert is heavily involved in new gTLDs, both as a consultant and as an Internet entrepreneur.[1][2] Alexander has been working as a domain consultant since 2000.[3] He was the first person to propose the idea of the .gay TLD to ICANN in June, 2009.[4] He was also a founder of the .berlin initiative, along with Dirk Krischenowski;[5] thus, he has been involved in the gNSO process for the approval of new gTLDs, and has been attending ICANN meetings since 2004. He founded .berlin in 2005, and .gay in 2009.
Alexander is also responsible for the .miami, .florida, and .riga iniatives;[6] .florida is the first gTLD initiative that is specifically designed for a US state.[7]
Philanthropy[edit | edit source]
Both .gay and .florida plan to return 2/3 of their profits back to the communities that they represent; the LGBT community and Floridian community.[8] DotMiami also aims to run on the same philanthropic entrepreneur model.[9]

Alexander is also a regular attendee of domaining conferences, such as T.R.A.F.F.I.C., the Domain Roundtable, and DOMAINfest.[10] He attends some 12 Internet related conferences per year, including all ICANN meetings.[11]

Mr. Schubert has a masters degree in Aviation and Space Engineering. [12]
