ESoftWiz was an ICANN accredited registrar that managed 1,200 gTLD registrations and 8 second-level IDNs for the .com and .net domains.
The company's Registrar Accreditation Agreement expired and it was not renewed because of RAA compliance issues. As a result,it was de-accredited by ICANN it was no longer allowed to manage or register gTLDs.[1]
On September 12, 2008, ICANN released an announcement seeking Statements of Interest from ICANN-accredited registrars that are interested to assume the management of the gTLDs that were registered under ESoftWiz.[2]
ICANN received 11 statements of interest from registrars. Name.com was selected to receive the bulk transfer of gTLDs from ESoftwiz and the registrants from the company received notices regarding the transfer. This process was undertaken by ICANN to protect the interest of ESoftwiz customers.[3]
