Hafiz Farooq is an active Cyber Security and Internet Researcher[1] and currently working as Senior Cyber Security Architect at Aramco since last 10 years. He has around 20 years of experience of working in Data Center, Telecommunications & Security domains. He has also worked with Dell Inc, Juniper Networks, British Telecom (BT) and other telecommunication companies in the area of Network & Cyber Security. He is actively participating in ICANN community since 2022.

He is currently member of ICANN's Root Server System Advisory Committee[2] (RSSAC) and GNSO Business Constituency[3] (BC) while representing Aramco, for more than two years. He is also member of Universal Acceptance[4] (UA) Working Groups and coordinated ICANN event(s) in Saudi Aramco. He is a fellow at ICANN75 (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), ICANN76 (Cancun, Mexico), ICANN77 (Washington DC, USA), ICANN79 (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and ICANN81 (Istanbul, Turkey).

He presented an open-source DNSSEC Verification Platform[5] (DNSCapture) in the DNSSEC Techday at the ICANN79 (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and also conducted multiple technical sessions during different ICANN meetings. He currently supports the Aramco's gTLD[6] (.aramco), and ensures security and monitoring of Aramco's ASN[7] (AS5080) .

He holds a master's degree in Next Generation Networks (Aston University, United Kingdom), Computer Engineering degree (NUST, Pakistan) and holds multiple routing and security certifications including JNCIE-SP (Service Provider), JNCIE-SEC, SANS Forensic Examiner & Exploit Researcher, CISSP and CISM. He is currently advisory board member for multiple fortune-500 companies (mainly, Splunk and ElasticSearch, etc.). He is also member of ISOC (Internet Society, Islamabad Chapter) and ISOC's CyberSecurity Special Interest Group (CSSIG), and Forum of Incident Response Team (FIRST).

He is currently developing the RSSAC's Research Management Platform[8] (Zotero) for ICANN's RSSAC Caucus and also working with Subsequent Procedures [9](SubPro) Implementation Review Team (IRT), for the New ICANN's gTLD Phase. He is also contributing to RSSAC by assisting in building Root Server System (RSS) Incident Reporting System[10].
