- On January 20, Public Interest Registry launched the New Top-Level Domain .giving.
- On January 27, ICANN Organization issued a request for information to evaluate vendors for the implementation of a new enterprise system to aid ICANN staff in the collection and processing of applications for future rounds of new gTLDs. The goal is to identify prospective candidates to be short-selected for the second stage of the evaluation, the RFP stage, which will be closed or invitation-only.
