Tobias Sattler is board member and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of united-domains AG. He represents united-domains at quite a number of conferences[1] and is responsible for the company's technology, product development, strategic partner management and industry engagement, such as ICANN and IETF.[2]

Tobias is quite active in the domain industry, he is a voting member and the current Vice Chair / CTO[3] of the ICANN Registrar Stakeholder Group[4]. Since May 2017, Tobias is a member of the eco Association Names & Numbers Steering Committee.[5]

He is involved with some Working Groups at ICANN and CENTR, such as Registry/Registrar Onboarding (AROS), Privacy and Proxy Accreditation, Whois Validation[6], ccTLD Registrar Portal[7], etc.

Tobias is actively involved as a speaker and panelist at conferences, such as ICANN Meetings, CENTR workshops[8], NamesCon[9], etc.

He is one of the organizers of a biannual German domain name event, called Domain-Stammtisch München.[10]

Tobias also manages an Internet and Domain Name Industry Event Calendar that became well-recognized.[11]

Career History edit

Tobias Sattler was Content Advisory Board Member of NamesCon and WorldHostingDays[12] and a volunteer at the Mozilla foundation to support the Public Suffix List[13] and the Universal Acceptance from 2014 to 2016.[2]

Tobias has held various senior positions at united-domains AG and its subsidiaries since 2008, including:

  • Chief Information Officer (CIO)
  • Head of Domain Services
  • Assistant to the Board
  • Head of Domain Reselling

Before that, he served as a soldier in the German Armed Forces and supported the SAP adoption. Prior to this, Tobias worked as a Software Engineer for Siemens.[2]

Tobias Sattler released a series of training material for newcomers, named Domain Name Basics under Creative Common License, about the domain name industry.
