Matt Serlin is the VP of Operation and Product Management of MarkMonitor, a company engaged in providing online brand protection such as anti-piracy, anti-fraud, domain management and advisory services. As Director, he oversees and works closely with stakeholders to ensure that the company's domain name protection services compete on a global level. He represents the company in the activities and meetings of the ICANN, particularly the GNSO Registrar Stakeholder Group (RrSG).
He is the 2012- 2013 Chair of ICANN's Registrar Constituency.
Career History edit
Serlin began his IT career as Operations Supervisor for Scopus Technology in 1997. After serving the company for one year, he moved to Siebel Systems and worked as Operations Manager for three years until 2000. He also worked for Mobileum as Operations Manager until 2001. In 2002, he was hired by MarkMonitor as Director of Operations and Product Management.[1]
ICANN Involvement edit
Matt is the current Vice-Chairman and CTO of the Registrar Stakeholder Group of ICANN's Generic Names Supporting Organization. Prior to election on November 22, 2011, Serlin served as Secretary of the RrSG starting on June 1, 2009. As Vice-Chairman of the stakeholder group, Serlin has the authority to assume the leadership and responsibilities of the chairman in his or her absence. He is also responsible for monitoring reports regarding the technical problems related to the Domain Name System (DNS) as well as activities for the benefit of RrSG.[2][3] Serlin is also a member of the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy (IRTP WG) Part B and Post-Expiration Domain Name Recovery (PEDNR WG) Working Groups.[4]

Serlin received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of Pittsburg.[5]
