Veni Markovski is one of Bulgaria's pioneers in Internet and information technology. He is currently ICANN's Vice President of Engagement with the United Nations. Before that, he oversaw engagement with Russia, The Commonwealth of Independent States, and Eastern Europe. He was a Director on ICANN's Board from 2006 to 2007. He is also the Owner and CEO of Global Solutions and Consulting and has been advising the Bulgarian National Cybersecurity Coordinator since 2009.

- On December 21, the ICANN Board accepted Göran Marby’s resignation as ICANN President, effective immediately. The ICANN Board will begin its search for a new CEO in January 2023 and named Sally Costerton, ICANN Senior Advisor to the President and Senior Vice President of Global Stakeholder Engagement, as Interim President and CEO.
- In December 2022, ICANN launched the Coalition for Digital Africa, an initiative to provide investments in Internet infrastructure, offer capacity-building workshops, and facilitate participation in the multistakeholder policymaking process.
