The organization submitted its applications for the TLDs in Latin and Cyrillic scripts. The requirements for the application was prepared through the collaboration of Sedari, a TLD consulting, management and technology firm expert in ICANN process and the ISC Consortium, which provides technical assistance. According to FAITID, the standard price per domain names registered under the .moscow and .москва strings will be around 600 Roubles (20$). [2] [3]
Background of the .moscow (.москва) Project[edit | edit source]
In 2010, the Coordination Center for TLD RU (CC for TLD RU), the registry operator of .ru ccTLD and .РФ IDN ccTLD initiated the .moscow (.москва) project. The CC for TLD RU proposed the project to the different government agencies in Moscow including the creation of a special community council to administer it. [4]
Following the CC for TLD RU's proposal, the Moskovskiy Komsomolets, one of the leading news paper in Russia launched a survey about the project on its website to gather the opinion of the citizens in Moscow. The survey was implement from September 2 until October 1, 2010. [5] Thousands of citizens responded and supported the project. The Moscow Department of Culture and Moscow Department of Support and Development of Small and Middle Entrepreneurship (DSDSME) also supported the project and expressed their willingness to participate in creating a Community Council that will handle the application for the TLDs with ICANN.[6] FAITID was established and took over the responsibility to manage the .moscow/москва project. [7]
Since the inception of the .moscow (.москва) project, it was presented to the different international internet conferences and symposiums particularly during ICANN meetings. It was introduced during the 2010 RIPE NCC Moscow Regional Meeting, [8] ICANN 40 Meeting in San Francisco and [9] at the ICANN 43 Meeting in Costa Rica [10] and during the international domain forum in Bulgaria. [11]
