ALAC Leadership Team
The At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) serves as the primary organizational home within ICANN for individual Internet users. The ALAC Leadership Team (ALT) is a select group within the ALAC, comprising members who provide strategic guidance and operational support to the committee.
Composition of the ALT[edit | edit source]
The ALT is composed of:
Chair: Leads the ALAC and the ALT.
Vice Chairs: Typically two, each overseeing specific areas such as policy development or outreach.
Regional Representatives: One member from each of the five Regional At-Large Organizations (RALOs):
- AFRALO (Africa)
- APRALO (Asia, Australasia, and Pacific Islands)
- EURALO (Europe)
- LACRALO (Latin America and Caribbean Islands)
- NARALO (North America)
These members are appointed annually by the ALAC Chair and are expected to fulfill specific leadership criteria and expectations.
Responsibilities of the ALT[edit | edit source]
ALT members are entrusted with several key responsibilities:
- Strategic Oversight: Collaborate with the ALAC Chair to manage the committee's activities and ensure alignment with ICANN's broader objectives.
- Policy Development: Engage actively in policy-related discussions and working groups, contributing to the formulation of advice on ICANN's activities.
- Outreach and Engagement: Lead initiatives to enhance participation from individual Internet users and At-Large Structures (ALSes) across different regions.
- Meeting Participation: Attend and contribute to both ALAC and ALT meetings, facilitating discussions on policy and outreach matters.
- Liaison Roles: Some ALT members may serve as liaisons to other ICANN bodies, such as the GNSO, ccNSO, GAC, and SSAC, representing the interests of the At-Large Community.
