Igor Motsnyi (Mocni) is an IP (Intellectual Property) lawyer, UDRP panelist and UDRP scholar based in Serbia.
Igor lived and worked in 5 (five) different countries.
His main practice areas are international trademarks, domain names, brand protection and domain name disputes. He is also involved in discussions and debates on Internet governance.
Igor had worked in software companies as inhouse counsel and "Big Law" firms prior to establishing his own IP consulting firm "Motsnyi IP" (aka "Motsnyi Legal") in December 2010.
Igor is a UDRP panelist and URS examiner, and he also represents both complainants and respondents in domain name disputes.
Igor represented global FinTech company - Complainant in numerous UDRP disputes, including CAC-UDRP-107208 and CAC-UDRP-104808 and he represented a Swiss-based international organization in a .io dispute - WIPO Case No. DIO2025-0012 .
While he mostly represents complainants/brand owners, he also represented some domain registrants in UDRP disputes.
Among notable UDRP cases Igor handled as respondent's counsel are WIPO Case No. D2024-0098 (<familypolicyfoundation.org>), WIPO Case No. D2024-4353 (<metarisk.com>), Forum FA2504002149648 and Forum FA2506002163520 (<altec.ai>), WIPO Case No. D2025-2493 (<ausfail.com>) and WIPO Case No. D2025-3081 (<profit.com>).
Igor takes particular interest in a topic of Free Speech in domain disputes. Igor represented a US human rights activist in the <familypolicyfoundation.org> dispute (see above) and a registrant- Respondent in the <ausfail.com> dispute filed by the world's largest provider of private security guards (see above).
Igor spoke on Free Speech and UDRP disputes at the Czech Arbitration Court (CAC) panelists meeting in Prague in 2024.
Igor regularly participates in ICANN events and meetings and various events on Internet governance.
Igor is a co-author of "UDRP Perspectives on Recent Jurisprudence" together with Zak Muscovitch.
"UDRP Perspectives" is a curated collection of up-to-date case law and commentaries on various UDRP topics. It includes notable decisions from all five (5) current UDRP Providers and is regularly updated.
Igor is a member of the IPC ("Intellectual Property Constituency"), GNSO at ICANN.
Igor was a special guest on "Domain Name Law Show" (DNL Show) and appeared a few times on the DNL Show to comment on some UDRP cases, including the ones where he represented one of the parties.
Igor is a regular speaker at events on law, technology and Internet governance and is one of the organizers of an international conference in Belgrade, Serbia: Protection of IP in Digital Environment.
