Ranjit R Nair is an Alumni of Anna University, Chennai; Passionate IEEE volunteer in multiple roles under IEEE Educational Activities Board, having spearheaded successful campaigns and projects such as Teacher in Service Project (TISP), Early Career Faculty Development Program and winning awards for excellence; Chaired Young Professionals AG at Kerala Section and Coordinated at Asia Pacific Region level; Founder Secretary of Internet Society of Trivandrum (ISOC-TRV). He is currently the Chair of the Membership Development Committee in the IEEE Kerala Section.

ICANN Involvement

Participated in ICANN 57 at Hyderabad, India from October 2-9, 2016 and ICANN 60 at Abudhabhi from October 27 - November 3, 2017. An active volunteer representing ISOC TRV (Trivandrum, India), one of the ALSes of ICANN.

Involvement in Internet Governance

Internet Society Trivandrum (ISOC - TRV)
As the founder secretary of Internet Society Trivandrum (ISOC-TRV), Ranjit was one of the key people in organizing various events of ISOC in Kerala including the Consultation on Net Neutrality, awareness of Internet Governance among the student community, etc.

First India School on Internet Governance 2016 (inSIG 2016)

He was one of the core organizing team behind the first inSIG event, held at IIIT Hyderabad from 31-2, November 2016. The event had 44 delegates from nine countries participating in it.

Awards and Honors

  • IEEE Power and Energy Society Outstanding Engineer Award 2017 - For invaluable support to the Power and Energy Society educational activities and professional/leadership skills in winning global recognition for the young professionals in Kerala
  • IEEE Kerala Section Outstanding Volunteer Award 2016 - For outstanding contribution to the IEEE Kerala Section and the Global IEEE community, particularly in the areas of Member Engagement, Young Professionals, Technical Conferences and Humanitarian Activities.
  • IEEE MGA Achievement Award 2015: E-Scientia Project - For engaging members and promoting science, technology, and IEEE among pre-university students through a hands-on science center exhibit intended to engage students with engineering and technology and raise awareness about careers in these disciplines.

  • Outstanding Section Membership Recruitment and Retention Performance Award 2015, 2016, 2017 - In the capacity of Kerala Section Membership Development Chair becoming the largest Section in India and second in Asia-Pacific with 7500+ members.
  • IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education 2014 - For contributions to the design and delivery of faculty training modules that improve the quality of educational instruction and student learning

  • IEEE MGA GOLD Achievement Award 2012 - For exemplary contributions to IEEE GOLD in Region 10 and for bridging generations through GOLD activities.

Major Volunteer Contributions

  • E-Scientia Ambassador: Installed the first indigenously fabricated E-Scientia museum exhibit in Kerala at C-SiS, CUSAT. As E-Scientia trainer helped installation of similar module at Trinidad and Tobago
  • TISP Champion: Trained TISP volunteers of 8 countries and spearheaded one of the largest TISP volunteer training program named 'TISP Week'in Kerala, training 400+ volunteers impacting followup on 60,000+ pre-university students
  • Early Career Faculty Development Programs: Trained 150+ early career faculty across engineering institutions in Kerala and Tamilnadu, an initiative supported by EAB and Govt of Kerala
  • Humanitarian Activities - Saastra Vismaya - An initiative to train the pre-university students of Government Rehabilitation
homes across Kerala Eyes Free Science Camps - A four-year sustaining program in training differently abled students (pre-university and grad school) across Kerala state. One major impact was convincing Kerala state government to pass resolution enabling blind students to pursue post metric education in science
  • Community Engagement Workshops CEW and SIGHT Camps: Instrumental in organizing two international Community Engagement Workshops (CEW) creating a common platform for NGOs to interact with engineering community for solving humanitarian issues
  • Membership Recruitment and Retention: Kerala Section achieved MGA retention and recruitment goals continuously for three years during my term as the Membership development chair
  • Young professionals involvement in Technical Conferences: First time in Region 10 to organize young professionals track in TENCON - R10 flagship technical conference, for enhancing the involvement of young practitioners in IEEE
