Welcome to ICANNWiki, a project to create a free, complete, up-to-date, and reliable guide to the world of ICANN. It is intended for use by people attending ICANN conferences as well as those following what's happening from afar. So far we have 8,705 articles written and, of course, have plenty more to do!

We are in the process of migrating content from the original site to the new site, here at ICANNWiki.com.

Baher Esmat is the Regional Relations Manager of the Middle East at ICANN. Mr. Esmat is a former member of the WSIS Working Group on Internet Governance (WGIG), and served as Chair of the Egyptian IPv6 Task Force before he joined ICANN. His area of interests include Internet policies relative to ICANN's authority regarding DNS and IP addresses, and areas like access, mobility, and security. He received a bachelors degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Cairo University in 1993, and a masters degree in Computer Science from the American University in Cairo in 1999. Baher Esmat joined ICANN in February 2006. From 2002 to 2006, he served at various positions within the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology; including the Telecom Planning Manager, where his responsibilities included projects relating to infrastructure and service development....read more

CNNIC is an acronym for the China Internet Network Information Center. It is a state-controlled body which is often charged with drafting and carrying out new anti-liberalization policies. Since 2008, it has been the Secretariat of APAC, the anti-Phishing Alliance of China. As of June, 2007, CNNIC reported there were some 162 million internet users in China; this represents an increase of over 25 million from only January of that year.
