Chinese IDN gTLD Highlights
  • .广东 - translates as "Guangdong", a province in China. A contested string where one applicant has government support while the other does not.
  • .网店 - translates as "webshop", a contested TLD featuring Zodiac, the only portfolio TLD applicant focused only on Chinese IDNs.
  • .网站 - translates as "website", another contested TLD featuring Zodiac.
  • .政府 - is equated to ".gov." It has recieved GAC Early Warnings from Hong Kong and Japan on the basis that it will create user confusion.
  • .微博 - The contested TLD for "microblogging" has been applied for by two prominent providers of Chinese microblogging sites, and both also applied for the latinized version of this TLD, .weibo.
  • .政务 - The string for "government affairs" from CONAC has support from the Chinese government but the GAC rep from Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) has issued it a warning.
  • .健康 - the applicant for "healthy", Stable Tone Limited, wrote in its application that ALL of its domains will be sold at high, premium prices.
