He is also a member of the Task Force on Arabic Script IDNs (TF-AIDN), which focuses on secure deployment and ease of use of Arabic IDNs. Within TF-AIDN, he contributes to root zone and second level LGRs and Universal Acceptance for Arabic script domain names. He is also a member of the Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) and an ICANN Fellow.

    • On January 18, Karen Lentz posted a blog updating the community on the SUBPRO Operation Design Phase and identifying nine work tracks for the ODP.
    • On January 19, ICANN appointed John Crain Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer.
    • On January 25, Google Domains launched early access registrations for .day.
    • On January 27, the GNSO Council and ICANN Board discussed the ODA for the SSAD. In particular, the discussants raised topics such as the merits and costs of accreditation, the legal risks involved in SSAD, the development of a requestor code of conduct, the need for a pilot version, shortening the timeline, and improving the estimate of potential users.
