ICANNWiki is a not-for-profit organization supporting the collaborative development of articles about ICANN and Internet Governance-related topics, currently featuring 8,515 entries. It aims to provide neutral, third-party information that takes all perspectives into consideration. Want to help? Request an account today! Where to start

Getting started is as simple as requesting an account, which will be approved as long as it does not appear to be intended for spam or malice. Then, make sure to read our short content guide to get a feel for what belongs in the wiki. You may also want to have a look at some data source suggestions on where to find reliable data. That's it, happy editing!

Current Focus

Our focus this season is: ccTLDs. Our community is working together on surfacing information about these stakeholders, including going over documents, blog posts, Working Groups (including the already great article on Working Groups!), and all other relevant information.

-A [[Brand TLD]] is an innovative type of top level domain name ([[TLD]]) that is made possible through the implementation of [[ICANN]]'s [[New gTLD Program]]. A Brand TLD provides the opportunity for branded corporations to use their corporate name as their website's top-level identifier instead of using a more traditional [[.com]] or [[.biz]] domain space. Brands represent 34% of the applied for 1,930 applications; a total of 664 brand applications were submitted to ICANN. A Brand TLD is not a separate category of TLD such as [[GeoTLD]] or [[Community TLD]] as defined by the [[Applicant Guidebook]]. Some speculate that ICANN may formalize the rules for a Brand TLD in any future TLD expansion round.
