ICANN's job is to ensure the stability, security, and resiliency of the Domain Name System (DNS). The stability and security of the DNS is undermined in a DNS Abuse variety of ways, which ICW Editor Jessica has been working to catalog. In addition, she has been focusing on responses to abuse from ICANN, other institutions, and government agencies.

The stability of the DNS is the central focus of SSAC, and is also enshrined in the ICANN Bylaws in multiple places. ICANN's performance of this critical task is also periodically reviewed as mandated by Article 4.6 of the bylaws. The First Security, Stability, and Resilience Review took place in 2010, while the Second Security, Stability, and Resilience Review is ongoing.

    In late spring 2021...

    • The ICANN Domain Name System Symposium (IDS), ICANN and GDD's annual joint meeting on DNS security, took place from May 25 to 27. The symposium focused on risk tradeoffs, how the threat landscape has evolved, measurements, and mitigation measures.
    • The IGF USA conference was held in mid-July, addressing a wide range of issues around Internet governance, interoperability, and accessibility for all. ICANNWiki board member Dustin Loup, Executive Director of ISOC DC and co-chair of IGF USA, co-hosted the welcome session.
    • The IP management technology provider Anaqua announced its acquisition of SeeUnity, which provides API-related software.[2]
