WSIS
WSIS (World Summit on the Information Society) was a two phase Summit endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly under Resolution 56/183 to address the whole range of relevant issues related to the Information Society, through the development of a common vision and understanding of the Information Society and the adoption of a Declaration and a Plan of Action for Implementation by Governments, International Organizations, civil society and business entities. WSIS was an intergovernmental Summit like all Summits of the UN System. It was not a real multistakeholder event, but it was probably the most inclusive of all UN Summits (with International Organizations, civil society and business entities playing an important role in the preparation and discussion) and went to the limits of what Global Governance (within the UN System) can mean today. The first phase of the Summit was held in Geneva in 2003, and the second in Tunis in 2005; WSIS was the biggest global gathering up to now regarding the Information Society, more than 19,000 individuals (heads of State and Government, diplomats, representatives from International Organizations, from civil society and from business entities) from 174 countries participated in the Tunis event.

ICANN 53 - Edit-a-thon

June, TBD 2015
ICANNWiki is a small team of editors and contributors who have helped shape over 5,000 articles about ICANN, the DNS and Internet governance as a whole. Our goal is to continue to create and collaborate on relevant and educational articles that serve as a touchstone for our community. An edit-a-thon is a small, but powerful tool to start, grow or edit the information on ICANNWiki, and build a community of contributors.

Changes can start small--create or fill in your personal or company page, fix a small error. Or perhaps you have some insight into the history and trajectory of the new gTLD Program? Or, you're at the forefront of initiatives such as NETmundial or have something factual to contribute to our IANA Transition article? Come to our edit-a-thon and choose your level of participation!

ICANNWiki currently has 8,387 articles.
